VALOUR-IT Project
a laptop for a soldier

Monday, November 12, 2007

The Valour-IT Auction that ended yesterday was a BIG success for me. My goal was to raise at least $600 for Valour-IT to purchase a single computer with voice software for an injured military member. My final tally once the donations have been made was $627.34! I must give a special thanks to Cindy who pushed me over the top by donating more than her bid! My thanks to all the auction bidders who made this possible

I would also be remiss if I did not write of my deepest appreciation of all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the wonderful people who donated items for the auction:

Suzanne Brockmann
Ed Gaffney
Alden Mills and Janet Webb of BodyRev and The Perfect Pushup
Catherine Mann
Dianna Love Snell
Anne Elizabeth
Pat White
Leigh and her beautiful baby blankets!

THE FUND RAISER ITSELF IS NOT OVER!!! You may still donate. Soldiers' Angels is offering the following gift to donors who give more than $25 to Valour-IT through the team competition. Donors must donate through a team button to receive the challenge coin pictured above.

Here's your chance to have a hand in making a profound positive impact on the life of a wounded warrior. Your donation can reconnect a wounded warrior to the world, build his confidence, and prepare him for what comes next.

FbL at Fuzzilicious Thinking wrote that laptops can save lives. You can make an immensely positive impact in an incredibly powerful way by donating to the Valour-IT Project. Valour-IT provides laptop computers loaded with software including Voice Recognition to our wounded warriors enabling them to communicate with family, friends and comrads. As FbL said, "...the laptop reconnects a soldier, gives him self-expression and independence, and helps sustain his spirit for the fight of recovery to come." Please help Valour-IT to help the wounded.

First I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.  My goal was to raise $600 for Valour-IT to purchase one laptop computer with voice recognition and other software preloaded for a wounded warrior.  With your help I raised $627.34!  Since I have seen some posts about charities going around, I wanted to let you know about where the money Valour-IT collects goes.  According to FbL, one of the co-founders:

EVERY SINGLE CENT donated in the name of Valour-IT goes to laptops.  Period.  Any overheard for this project (which includes shipping, PayPal fees, donor gifts, and even laptop bags) is covered by Soldiers' Angels itself from their general funds.

I also wanted to let you know that your donation is tax deductible.  If you need any help with this, let me know and I will find out how to get an answer to you.

Now that the auction is over, the high bidders have been notified.  Once I verify the donations have been made, I will contact each of you with the name and address of the winners.  Please let me know if you run across any problems at all.

Again, my deepest appreciation on behalf of a wounded warrior,

Paulette Smith
